Depeche Mode's Martin L. Gore Releases Solo E.P.
Martin L. Gore, instrumentalist, songwriter and founding member of Depeche Mode, has stepped out on his own with a solo E.P. comprised of six specially selected tracks reflecting Gore's eclectic and wide-ranging musical taste.
Titled Counterfeit and produced by Gore with assistance from Rico Conning, the E.P. includes Gore's distinctive versions of "Compulsion" by Joe Crow, Tuxedomoon's "In A Manner Of Speaking", Durutti Column's "Smile In A Crowd", "Gone" by the Comsat Angels, "Never Turn Your Back On Mother Earth" from Sparks and a rendition of the traditional gospel classic "Motherless Child".
All instruments and vocals on Counterfeit are handled by Gore who is currently in Italy with the other members of Depeche Mode, recording new material.
Depeche Mode's latest release is the deluxe live package, 101, documenting their historic 1988 U.S. tour. 101 is also the subject of a documentary film by director D.A. Pennebaker.
